We have searched long and hard for this quality product and while there are shea butters that are whiter and with less odor...we have found none that are as smooth.   African healers have used shea butter for thousands of years as the ideal treatment for dry or aging skin. Its high content of non-saponifiable fatty acids gives it the ability to moisturize and retain the elasticity of the skin. Shea butter also protects the skin against the damaging effects of the sun while repairing cellular degeneration. It is basically unsaponifiable and therefore a great moisturizing ingredient in soap.   This shea is extracted and refined without the use of harsh chemicals like hexane. It is deodorized and discoloured with earthen clays. A very good quality shea butter.
