Cranberry extract has anti-bacterial, antioxidant, anti-microbial properties from the high level of naturally occurring proanthocyanidins (condensed tannins). Cranberries are considered a “superfruit” because of their nutrient content and antioxidant properties. Cranberries are a source of polyphenol antioxidants, which is a type of antioxidant containing a polyphenolic substructure. These antioxidants are believed to be influential in combating oxidative stress. Polyphenol antioxidants scavenge free radicals and result in reduction of inflammation.
