Customer Reviews

  • Fantastic Distillate
  • " I'm not sure why this has such low reviews. I use this distillate for my toners and it's fantastic. The scent varies from batch to batch but that is to be expected since it's a natural product and harvest to harvest the plants are different. Some lavenders are very sweet or floral, others are more herbal. This leans herbal but it's stlll very much lavender scented. My customers LOVE the toner I make with it. "

  • Refreshing
  • " I bought this despite the negative reviews & I'm happy I did. I agree it's not yummy-sweet like many Lav EO's but this is NOT an EO - and distillates typically have a different scent. It's refreshing & I love it! "

  • Smells Awful
  • " I ordered this with the expectation of it having some sort of smell similar to lavender essential oil. It smells nothing like Lavender. I nearly gag every time I try to smell it. "

  • Horrible Smell!
  • " This is the worst Lavender distillate I have ever worked with. I have ordered organic Lavender distillate and hydrosol from other vendors in the past and they have smelled wonderful. This one smells so horrible that it made me gag upon opening. Unfortunately I ordered a whole gallon of it and don't know what to do with it. I tried to mix it with the Rose distillate to make a toner and thought the smell may disappear but it overpowers the rose smell too. The Rose distillate on the other hand smells wonderful. "

  • Smells terrible
  • " I recently purchased the Lavender Distillate, which I have purchased from another source in the past. I was disappointed to find this product has a burnt, foul smell to it. I called Essential Wholesale and told them about it. They agreed it smells bad but said this is the product they carry. Save your money, this is not a good product. EWL Response - We are sorry you were disappointed with this product. Our chief formulator selected this because when it is introduced into a lotion or cream, the lavender scent changes to one most people find pleasant. Organic Lavender Distillate does have that raw, earthy, smell that many find unpleasant. Our distillate comes from the Lavandula angustifolia variety not the buena vista, which has a more floral scent. The process of distillation will intensify the earthy, smokey scent of the lavender. You might consider the lavender EO or the Lavender Tincture if you're not adding to a base. "

  • Awful
  • " I should have listened to the other reviewers. But figured it couldn't be that bad. It really stinks! I have loved all my EW products, but this is a complete miss. I dumped the product I made with it and the rest of the distillate. Luckily it was cheap enough I didn't feel too bad. "

  • Smells awful
  • " I should have paid more attention to the reviews, because this distillate stinks. So much so that I threw the product out that I made with it. The rest of it went down the drain. Fortunately I only ordered the 16oz so I wasn't out much. "

  • Lavender Distillate (Certified Organic)
  • " I always have this distillate on hand to spray around the house. This is a true scent to the PLANT lavender, and that’s what I enjoy about it. You get a hay like scent, with that classic lavender musk. "
